Most anyone who has been through a terrible crisis or a trying experience feels compelled to share that experience with others. In my last book, Suffered Long Enough, I shared my experience with fibromyalgia and Lyme disease. The book was about my story and the pathway that I chose to get well. At the time, I was still practicing medicine full-time and wrote the book during my free time on nights and weekends. It ended up being a helpful resource for a lot of people, but still wasn’t as comprehensive as I wanted it to be.

Since then, I have helped many more people get their lives back and have greatly expanded my knowledge base. At the beginning of 2016, I decided it was time to write the book that I wanted to write in the first place. I took a sabbatical from medical practice to immerse myself solely into the topic of understanding this often misunderstood illness that we call Lyme disease.

A year later, the work is finally done! This new book, Unlocking Lyme: Myths, Truths, and Practical Solutions for Chronic Lyme Disease, is less about my story and more about providing a comprehensive resource for overcoming chronic Lyme disease. It provides a clear understanding of Lyme disease and the microbes that surround it, the limitations of current testing (but what tests are important), a systematic review of currently available therapies for chronic Lyme disease, and guidelines for creating a holistic protocol that anyone can use to get well.

The book is based on sound scientific evidence. I took great pains to research and source primary peer-reviewed references for any concepts, conclusions, and factual information discussed in the book. I take bits and pieces of scientific information and pull them all together into an understandable concept that is essential for overcoming chronic Lyme disease.
