NAC (n-acetyl cysteine)

Another potent antioxidant, NAC is an essential component for formation of glutathione inside cells. It inhibits cytokine cascades (inflammatory messengers stimulated by microbes) It also inhibits the breakdown of collagen.

NAC concentrates in lungs and offers antioxidant effects as well as mucolytic properties (breaks down mucus). It also has a reputation for inhibiting biofilms. It is strongly protective of nerve tissue. NAC also protects liver function. Combining therapeutic doses of lipoic acid, vitamin C, and NAC will raise glutathione levels inside cells better than supplementing with glutathione.

Suggested Dosage: 500-2000 mg twice daily.
